In downtown atlatlan, it might not be so easy to find a place to live.
The average rent is about $1,300 a month.
But that is no mean feat.
At the peak of the housing bubble in 2007, when prices were skyrocketing, there were many apartments available for rent in the city centre.
Some are still there.
Many more are in disrepair, but most of them are now being renovated and are making the most of their prime years.
For those who want to live in the centre, the city is not just a tourist destination, but also a place of business and art.
A new trend is emerging that involves renovating old apartment buildings to make them more livable.
The process involves replacing the original building with an older, smaller structure, and the apartments are often sold.
“They have a lot of history, a lot that you don’t see in the area,” says Lyle Bove, a property consultant who works in the project.
“And they are looking for something with a lot more living space.”

Bove says it is an old style of construction that will appeal to many who are looking to live on the outskirts of downtown.
It has a mix of modern and retro style apartments with an emphasis on modern design.
Many are in the new, renovated version of a building called the ‘cave’ and can be rented for $600 a month, and there are also options for rent for $1.5 to $1 million a month in older buildings.

Badella, who works for a local developer, says it makes sense to rent the apartments to people who are moving to the area.
It is a mix between traditional and modern styles, he says.
It will appeal more to the millennial generation, who are becoming more urban, he adds.
“If you can make a connection to the neighbourhood and the history, and you can find a quality apartment in the neighbourhood, you will be more successful in finding a new home in AtL,” Badellas partner, Ben Bade, said in a statement.
The project was approved in 2015, but some of the apartments that were originally built during the bubble are now in disuse, and they need to be replaced.
The original structure at the time of the bubble was called the “dinosaur” and the buildings were built to house the company’s employees and retirees.
Today, the dinosaur building has been demolished, and some apartments are still being used for rentals.

In a project called ‘The Cave’ which is being completed, a team of students is renovating a number of old apartment blocks in the downtown area.
The students are renovating atlatlas buildings, with a focus on modern styles.
In addition to the renovations, the students are also developing a plan to bring the cave back into the city.
The student project is part of a larger plan called ‘Urbanism: A Living Environment’ which aims to revitalise abandoned spaces in the urban fabric, Badel said.
“The cave is an example of a space that is still being built up, but it is also an example where we are seeing new forms of living in the space,” he said.
